Intensive Russian Attacks Cut Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced disruption to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a young boy was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the city came under intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child lost their life and several individuals were wounded.

The strikes come after evenings of air raids in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and government agencies were bracing for additional strikes.
